Role Description
Arcadis is seeking an Entry‑Level Field Geologist or Environmental Scientist to join our team in Melville, NY. The position requires both field and office work, with 75–95% of the time spent in the field.
As part of the Resilience Environment team, you will work with Senior Geologists, Scientists, Engineers, Project Managers, and Technical Experts on environmental assessment and remediation projects, supporting our growing emerging contaminant project portfolio.
Role AccountabilitiesResponsibilities include executing environmental site characterization, investigation, and remediation tasks. Fieldwork will involve drilling for soil sampling and groundwater well installation, groundwater sampling, subcontractor oversight, operation and maintenance of remediation systems, vapor intrusion/soil gas surveys, and other related activities. Health and safety focus is essential.
- Oversee the work of subcontractors.
- Write and prepare technical reports, work plans, letters, and memoranda.
- Conduct field work including soil, groundwater, and/or vapor sampling; travel regionally for up to 1–2 days per week and occasionally for up to two weeks within the U.S.
Required:
- Bachelor’s of Science in Geology, Hydrogeology, or a closely related field (e.g., environmental science, physical science).
Preferred:
- Master’s degree in Geology or a closely related field.
- Current OSHA 40‑hour HAZWOPER training.
Strong written and oral communication skills, self‑motivation, independent thinking, adaptability, creative problem solving, teamwork, and the ability to work remotely.
Travel and Work DetailsField work requires regional business travel up to 1–2 days per week and occasional trips within the U.S. Travel is reimbursable. Travel estimate: up to 75% during the first two years, reducing to ~50% by the third year. A valid driver’s license is required.
Benefits & CompensationSalary range: $55,200 – $82,800. Benefits for full‑time and part‑time positions include medical, dental, vision, EAP, 401(k), STD, LTD, AD&D, life insurance, paid parental leave, reward and recognition program, wellbeing benefits, adoption assistance, tuition reimbursement, nine paid holidays, and 15 days PTO that accrue per year.
