Schuff Steel and Banker Steel, both DBM Global companies and leaders in structural steel fabrication, are seeking a skilled Engineering Support Specialist – Structural Connections to join our engineering support team.
In this role, you will provide essential technical support to engineers and detailers, assisting with steel connection design, layout development, drawing reviews, and 3D modeling tasks. Your work will help ensure accuracy, efficiency, and constructability across high‑profile structural steel projects nationwide.

What You’ll Do- Work closely with engineers to create detailed calculations, sketches, and connection design layouts.
- Support project detailers during job initiation to ensure a clear understanding of connection design standards.
- Utilize 3D modeling tools to assist engineers in assessing project framing and connection requirements.
- Operate connection design software under engineering direction.
- Prepare connection code maps for projects as needed.
- Review shop drawings to ensure proper application of project connection requirements.
- Evaluate project and shop drawings to confirm the most cost‑effective connection solutions.
- Assist with preparation of design sketches and calculations for Engineer of Record approval.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in an engineering and/or structural steel detailing environment.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
Candidates should demonstrate strong composure, technical skills, integrity, teamwork, customer focus, and adaptability.
Technical Skills- Microsoft Office proficiency
- Experience with AutoCAD
- Familiarity with MathCAD
- Experience with Tekla or similar detailing software
- Strong problem‑solving and communication skills
