We are a fast-growing, entrepreneurial company seeking an experienced Bookkeeper with a collections mindset to join our team. This is a dual-role position — you'll own the books and manage accounts receivable collections for a subscription-based business with a high volume of weekly and monthly customer contracts. This is not a corporate, clock-in-clock-out role. We move fast, we reward performance, and we want someone who wants to grow with us.
WhatYou’ll Do
- Manage full-cycle bookkeeping in Quick Books Online, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger classification.
- Reconcile bank statements, credit card accounts, and high-volume weekly/monthly contract transactions.
- Classify and categorize all incoming transactions across payment platforms including Shopify.
- Support month-end and year-end close processes.
- Maintain financial controls and internal processes to ensure accuracy and accountability.
- Liaise with external accounting resources as needed.
- Process and approve bi-weekly payroll in coordination with our HR/payroll provider.
- Monitor and manage a large volume of recurring customer contracts (weekly and monthly payment cycles).
- Execute a structured collections workflow — from automated follow-ups to direct customer outreach via CRM (Go High Level ), escalating through established steps up to and including demand letters via process server when necessary.
- Track delinquent accounts and maintain detailed records of all collection activity.
- Communicate professionally with customers regarding past-due balances.
- Take ownership of financial procedures and help build and document processes from the ground up.
- Eventually hire and manage an AR specialist as the team grows.
- Serve as the internal point of contact for accounting and finance matters, working closely with the company president.
- Experienced — You've done this before and don't need hand-holding. We’re a growing company without a 10-year policy manual. You figure things out and build the process.
- A leader — You're comfortable eventually managing people and building out a small finance team.
- Detail-oriented and trustworthy — You'll have access to financial systems and sensitive data. Integrity is non-negotiable. A background check is required.
- Adaptable — No two days look exactly the same here. You thrive in a dynamic environment and bring solutions, not just problems.
- Entrepreneurial — You’d rather help build something exciting than sit in a corporate cubicle doing the same thing every day.
- Minimum 3–5 years of bookkeeping experience (we prefer candidates on the more experienced end).
- Proficiency in Quick Books Online — this is a must.
- Familiarity with CRM tools (Go High Level experience a plus; training provided).
- Experience managing high-volume recurring billing or subscription-based transactions preferred.
- Collections or AR experience strongly preferred.
Strong knowledge of general ledger coding and basic GAAP principles. - Background check required prior to start.
- Experience in a fast-growth, entrepreneurial, or startup environment.
- Shopify familiarity.
- Prior experience building or managing a small accounting team.

Primarily remote with occasional office visits (1–2 days/week as needed). - Long-term:
In-office at our Irmo, SC headquarters once we move into our new facility. - Must be local to the Columbia/Irmo, SC area.
