The Criminal Justice Instructor is responsible for teaching in-person criminal justice courses. The home campus for this position will be Escanaba, with the opportunity to teach at other sites as mutually agreed upon. The focus of this position is teaching courses related to criminal justice, corrections, and law enforcement. This position also serves as the occupational program lead, which entails academic advising, program assessment, coordination, and development, as well as collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, especially those in Dickinson and Delta County.

This is a full-time, tenure-track position.

Minimum Qualifications

* Master's degree or higher (or 18 graduate level credits) in a criminal justice-related field with at least 3 years of experience in a criminal justice field, or a Bachelor's degree in a criminal justice-related field with at least 5 years of experience in a criminal justice field

* Teaching experience

* Commitment to quality instruction in a learner-centered environment with the goal of consistently improving student success

* Commitment to the community college mission and philosophy

* Ability to provide inclusive and accessible teaching and learning approaches for diverse student populations

* Demonstrated skill in effective written and oral communications

* Demonstrated literacy in information technology and computer use

* Willingness to learn and implement new teaching strategies as needed to enhance student success

* Commitment to value, respect, and provide an equitable learning experience in an inclusive, welcoming environment; standing against discrimination or harassment to educate all students regardless of race, color, national origin, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, disability, veteran or military status, or other protected status

Preferred Qualifications

* Experience teaching at a community college

* Experience teaching with a Learning Management System

* Online teaching certification

* Use of evidence-based teaching practices related to active and collaborative learning, critical thinking, and critical literacy and information skills

* Flexibility and creativity in relation to the changing field of criminal justice

* Deep understanding of legal and ethical frameworks

* Demonstrated sound ethical judgement

Months Per Year Fall and Winter semesters (August - May) with the opportunity to teach summer courses. Hours Worked Per Week A full-time faculty workload of 15 contact hours represents a standard full-time commitment. Additional time is required for preparation, grading, student support, and service, bringing the total workload to approximately 40 hours per week on average.
