Title: Federal Work Study - Iron Mountain Testing Center/Office Assistant )
Location: Iron Mountain
Pay Rate: $13.73 per hour
Type: FLSA Student Job (Full-Time Equivalent)
Job SummaryThe purpose of the Federal Work-Study Program is to give a student an opportunity to develop skills, gain on-the-job experience for future employment, and provide flexibility to work around class schedules.
Minimum Qualifications- Must be a Bay College student in the work-study program.
- Eligibility for work-study is determined after filing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
- Work-study requires that the student is degree-seeking and enrolled in at least one credit that applies to the semester of employment.
- Must maintain satisfactory academic progress.
- Average 10–15 hours per week, dependent upon the work-study award.
- Works under the direction of the Student Engagement Coordinator.
- Assist with testing operations, including monitoring testers, ensuring academic integrity, and scheduling.
- Assist users with questions and/or problems.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of records, conversations, and other work-related items.
- Create informational signs, forms, brochures, etc.
- Assist with digital technology, such as the scanner and copier.
- Help maintain bulletin boards.
- Perform data entry.
- Perform light cleaning and organize cabinets, shelves, drawers, and cubicles.
- Front-desk greeting, answering phones and assisting with general questions.
- Assist with student activities, the Iron Mountain campus food pantry, etc.
- Perform other activities assigned by the Student Support Coordinator.
Typical work conditions include exposure to weather conditions at the time, moderate noise levels that may become loud near equipment operation, and occasional outdoor exposure. Reasonable accommodations are available for individuals with disabilities.
Physical DemandsTasks require standing, walking, sitting, using hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reaching, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling; speaking and hearing; and occasionally lifting and/or moving up to 25 pounds. Vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
