Job Overview
As a member of our Protection & Control Engineering Services Team, you will be responsible for creating substation drawing packages including one-line drawings, three-line drawings, DC schematics, wiring diagrams, cable schedules, component layouts, electrical plans, and detailed assembly drawings using AutoCAD and Micro Station. Our P&C Engineering Services teams also perform fault analysis and coordination studies, grounding design and analysis, along with developing settings for most station relays.
ADay In The Life
- Interpret customer specifications and provide a design which meets all requirements
- Understand the theories and fundamentals of electrical circuits and related components
- Check/yellow line protection and control wiring diagrams to schematic diagrams
- Create control panel and field equipment wiring diagrams from schematic diagrams
- Create protection and control schematic diagrams from a 1-Line diagram
- Create site specific 1-Line diagrams
- Update/revise existing customer substation legacy schematic and wiring diagrams
- Collaborate with designers and engineers on technical issues.
- Perform all Project Management activities and lead intermediate projects without supervision.
- Create and revise RTU Point assignments (RPA's)
- Perform breaker control relay setting calculations
- Recognize a need for, and champion process improvements
- Develop training and mentor P&C Designers and Engineers
- Assist in customer site visits and development of project technical scope documents
- Customer visits (travel approximately 10% of the time)
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology; P.E. license or P.E track preferred (required)
- Minimum five years of Transmission and Distribution Protection and Control related experience (required)
