Purchasing Agent

We are looking for a talented Purchasing Agent that has a passion for quality construction. This position is responsible for coordinating the activities involved with the pricing of estimates and the purchasing of materials in the most cost-effective and efficient manner.

What You'll Do

• Partner with the estimating department to develop pricing for project estimates
• Collaborate with project management to prepare submittal documents for material and equipment approval
• Purchase materials that meet project specifications, schedules, and budget requirements
• Negotiate with vendors on pricing, availability, and delivery schedules
• Track and manage actual material costs against estimated budgets
• Expedite material shipments to keep construction schedules on track
• Maintain and update estimating software and procurement records
• Partner with Accounts Payable to verify invoice accuracy
• Coordinate the return of excess or surplus materials

What You'll Bring

• 3-5 years of purchasing experience in electrical utility, industrial/commercial materials, or equivalent related experience
• Strong ability to work independently and meet deadlines
• Working knowledge of current purchasing practices and systems
• Excellent negotiation and interpersonal skills
• Strong communication, organizational, presentation, and analytical skills
• Proven ability to build and maintain strong vendor relationships
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Outlook, and JD Edwards
• Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, or Supply Chain preferred
