Job Overview Systems Control is hiring a Manufacturing Weld Engineer, as a member of the Manufacturing Engineering Team, you will provide primary support for our Manufacturing, Operations, Design, and Engineering Teams at our two manufacturing facilities. A Day In The Life
- Be an active member & leader on area production support team addressing daily safety and quality concerns
- Lead, coordinate, and track cost reduction activities identified from production support team
- Troubleshoot production issues escalated from supervision to determine root cause and assist with corrective actions
- Research, align, justify and execute capital projects as needed in the production area being supported using A3 methodology
- Lead weekly improvement meetings focused on safety, quality, and productivity
- Oversee & develop welding process documentation including WPS's, PQR's, WQTR's, and Welder Continuity
- Administer welding tests to new and existing welding personnel
- Design and manufacture improvement solutions (i.e. jigs, fixtures, tools, etc.)
- Develop work cell layouts to improve flow through the facility
- Develop and execute all required process change documentation to include safety, quality and production for implemented projects
- Collaborate with design, engineering, drafting and materials to make process improvements
- Participate in and lead rapid improvement (Kaizen) teams & other Lean initiatives to improve business metrics
- Support non-welding engineering activities as needed
- Participate as an active member of an internal Safety System team
What will help you thrive in this role?
- B.S. Degree in Welding Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a manufacturing support role
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing concepts
- Hands-on experience with welding, weld cell support, and troubleshooting of weld issues is required
- Active AWS CWI is desired
- Proficient in solid modeling software (Creo preferred), 2D AutoCAD and MS Office Suite
- Demonstrated leadership in a team setting
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Demonstrated self-initiative while working independently in a team environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Ability to take work on multiple projects simultaneously
