- Basic telemetry arrhythmia knowledge.
Description:
The role involves working on a telemetry unit with a capacity of 24 inpatient beds and the capability for 10 observation/day surgeries.
Patient-nurse ratios are 5:1 for day shifts and 6:1 at night, with team nursing that includes LPNs at a 2:7 ratio.
Common diagnoses include NHP, cellulitis, UTI, COPD, GU, pacemaker management, sepsis, nursing home placements, and various day surgical procedures.
Clinical staff includes hospitalists or intensivists available during the day and telemedicine services after hours.
Respiratory therapy is available 24/7, and staff must be able to read telemetry strips.
Shifts are 12 hours, and weekend rotation is required every other week.
Holiday coverage is mandatory for two out of three holidays.
A call or standby requirement may exist, with opportunities to be placed on call.
Floating to similar units is required.
Staff must adhere to a dress code of solid professional attire.
The orientation process includes a combination of computer education and shadowing experienced staff.
All clinicians must clock in and out at the facility.
