American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position requiring an active MI license and at least 2 years of ED experience.
Requirements- Active RN license in Michigan required, must be in hand
- Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department experience required
- Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS, and TNCC
- Duos and first-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Level IV Trauma Center emergency department with 14 beds and 2 trauma bays
- No stroke or STEMI receiving designation; these patients are sent out
- Fast Track with 3 designated rooms and a separate triage area with 2 triage rooms
- ER holds are managed within the department and overflow uses attached ACU rooms
- Rooms can be converted to Psych/seclusion rooms as needed
- Average patient volume of 40-60 per day
- Nurse to patient ratios of 1:3-4 during the day, increasing overnight with only 2 RNs on duty between 3am-7am
- Patient population includes traumas, STEMI, strokes, and cases related to hunting, MVAs, and farming incidents
- 24/7 in-house ED Physician coverage along with mid-level providers
- ED Physician-covered facility with charge nurse taking patient assignments
- 24/7 coverage from Respiratory Therapy, phlebotomy, and support staff including CNAs, medics, and LPNs
- Central monitoring station used for telemetry with no dedicated monitor techs
- On-site X-ray availability and CT located a short distance away
- 12-hour shifts with evening and night start times (3pm, 7pm)
- Every other weekend rotation required (Saturday and Sunday)
- Holiday coverage required, including at least 2 of 3 major holidays during winter
- Floating to inpatient units required to assist as needed
- Uses a computerized charting system, transitioning from Cerner to Epic
- Travelers may perform triage duties after completing facility-specific policy and procedure review
- No 24/7 on-site security; facility relies on local PD and internal code response for emergencies
- Standby/call is voluntary and unpaid if utilized
- Orientation includes computer-based training and 2 days of floor orientation focused on department policies and procedures
- Scrub requirement: any solid color, clean and professional appearance
- Local candidates within 80 miles of the facility are accepted at a reduced rate
- Candidates who previously worked for the health system must have an end date at least 6 months prior to submission
- All clinicians are required to clock in and out at the facility
