Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical Surgical / Telemetry

Iron Mountain, MI | Acute Care

Contract | Full-Time | Days | 12-Hour Shifts (0700–1900 and 1900–0700) | Onsite

• Provide direct patient care on a 24-bed inpatient Medical Surgical/Telemetry unit, which may also include observation and day surgery patients
• Manage a diverse patient population with diagnoses including cellulitis, UTI, COPD, sepsis, pacemaker management, and post-operative surgical cases such as orthopedic, general, and urological procedures
• Perform independent IV starts and manage peripheral access without the support of a dedicated IV team
• Interpret basic telemetry arrhythmias using bedside monitors at the nurses' station; telemetry review is coordinated with the ICU team
• Float to like units and patient populations as needed — floating is an absolute requirement for this role
• May serve as relief charge nurse with a patient assignment; participate in weekend rotation (Friday, Saturday, Sunday, every other weekend) and holiday coverage (2 out of 3 holidays)

• Active RN license with a minimum of 1 year of Medical Surgical or Medical Surgical/Telemetry (acute care) experience
• BLS certification required
• Must be comfortable performing independent IV starts — no IV team is available on site
• Basic telemetry arrhythmia recognition skills required
• Must be available for call/standby assignments as needed
• Must live at least 80 miles from the facility to be eligible at the standard rate — candidates living within 80 miles are considered local and may be subject to a reduced rate

• ACLS certification preferred
• Experience with TURP/CBI (transurethral resection of the prostate with continuous bladder irrigation) procedures
• Background in Critical Access Hospital or Trauma Level 3 or 4 settings, given the limited on-site resources
• Prior charge nurse experience in an acute care environment

• Work in a collaborative team nursing environment supported by nurse aides, LPNs, and respiratory therapy available around the clock
• Gain broad clinical exposure across medical, surgical, telemetry, and observation patient populations in a community-based acute care setting
