Position Summary
Performs major and minor repairs on facilities equipment or fixtures by utilizing multiple craft skills (e.g., plumbing, electrical, carpentry, material handling equipment, food equipment). Inspects, operates, or tests facilities, equipment, or fixtures to diagnose and dismantle equipment and machines to access and remove defective parts, diagnose problems utilizing blueprints, repair manuals, or parts catalogs.
What You’ll DoAs a General Facilities Maintenance Technician at a local Walmart retail store, you will execute routine maintenance tasks to uphold safety, functionality, and aesthetics of Walmart Stores, equipment, and fixtures. Operating under the supervision of the local General Maintenance Manager, you will adhere to established maintenance schedules and guidelines, conducting inspections, cleaning, and repairs.
You will provide prompt response to emergency maintenance calls and document repair activities using the work order management system.
Key Responsibilities- Maintain and repair Walmart facilities, equipment, and assets using craft skills (plumbing, electrical, carpentry, etc.) and hand/power tools.
- Utilize the work order management system to receive reactive repair work orders, support stores and associates, and document activities.
- Provide prompt response to emergency maintenance calls.
- Inspect, operate, or test facilities, equipment, or fixtures to diagnose issues.
- Complete all required training to operate equipment and tools safely.
- 18 years or older.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Can lift up to 50 lbs.
- Can move up and down ladders frequently and comfortable working at heights.
- Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time and work in various temperatures.
- Valid state‑issued driver’s license with a clean driving record and ability to pass an MVR report.
- Vocational or technical certification and 1‑year experience, or 2 years total work experience, in one of the following trades: plumbing, electrical, material handling equipment, or related trade.
- Vocational or technical certification and 3 years of experience in plumbing, electrical, or material handling equipment (or related trade).
- Valid driver’s license.
- Eligibility for a commercial driver’s license (CDL) (if applicable).
- Completion of a 2‑year vocational or technical trade program.
- License in the related trade in the city or state where the job is located.
- Intermediate level proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet, email, and presentation software (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
