Sr. Mechanical Engineer; SFA

Job Summary

The SFA (Special Feature Authorization) Mechanical Engineer will contribute to the design and release of customizations to computer room air conditioning (CRAC) units. The role works within a cross‑functional development group and requires managing a variety of tasks in a dynamic environment, solving complex problems where no precedent exists.

• Create customizations of standard CRAC products as specified by customer requirements.
• Collaborate across mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, process engineering, production, and offering teams.
• Perform engineering design verification using traditional methods and CAD programs.
• Develop solutions to complex problems with ingenuity and creativity.
• Review completed CAD and schematic drafting to verify design intent.

• 2-4 years of experience in an engineering field.
• Basic understanding of thermodynamics.
• Strong mechanical and electrical design knowledge.
• Ability to work independently and as a member of a dynamic team in a fast‑paced environment.
• Demonstrated history of delivering quality products to market as part of an engineering team.
• Excellent project management and communication skills.

• 4-8 years of experience in an HVAC‑related engineering field.
• Experience with PLM systems (BOM management and change order release).
• Experience working closely with manufacturing engineering and production roles.
• Understanding of manufacturing limitations, formed sheet metal and formed copper tubes.
• Understanding of electrical schematic layout and creation.
• Proficient in 3D CAD software; preferred CREO 4.0 or greater.

• Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field from an accredited college or university.

• Light lifting (5–25 lbs.)
• Frequent standing, kneeling/crawling, stooping, bending, twisting.

• Protective equipment required (earplugs, gloves, eyewear, cut‑resistant sleeves).
