Job Summary:A national distribution company is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Accounting Manager to lead its special projects function. This position oversees a team of 4–5 accountants responsible for managing hundreds of vendor rebate programs, performing complex monthly calculations, and conducting large-scale, data-driven analyses to ensure accuracy and completeness of rebate income reporting.
In addition to managing day-to-day operations, the Accounting Manager will lead monthly rebate margin reviews with executive leadership, providing insights into financial performance and supporting key strategic decisions. The successful candidate will be a strong people leader with a solid technical accounting foundation and a proactive, analytical mindset focused on continuous improvement and automation.
Key Responsibilities:- Lead and manage a team of 4–5 accountants responsible for rebate accounting and reporting.
- Maintain and oversee a comprehensive rebate database, ensuring all vendor agreements are accurately captured and updated.
- Review monthly rebate calculations, journal entries, and reconciliations for accuracy and completeness.
- Validate large volumes of purchasing and sales data to support accurate accruals and revenue recognition.
- Perform detailed analytical reviews to ensure the integrity and reasonableness of rebate postings.
- Conduct monthly rebate margin reviews with senior leadership, providing performance insights and identifying improvement opportunities.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Procurement, Finance, and IT to enhance rebate tracking and reporting processes.
- Develop and improve reporting tools and dashboards for better visibility into rebate performance.
- Identify process improvements and drive automation initiatives to increase efficiency and control.
- Ensure adherence to internal controls, accounting policies, and audit standards related to rebate activities.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline (CPA preferred).
- Minimum of 7 years of progressive accounting experience, including 2+ years in a supervisory or management role.
- Experience with rebate, contract, or cost accounting in a high-volume environment strongly preferred.
- Strong data management and analytical skills, with experience handling complex transactional data.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel; experience with BI tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) is a plus.
- Exceptional organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
- High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting.
