Cooper Douglas is partnering with a rapidly growing design‑led brand in the home interiors space to identify an Accounting Manager to join their team. This role offers an opportunity to play a trusted, hands‑on role in shaping the company’s accounting function as it continues to scale both domestically and internationally.
Key Responsibilities- Own day‑to‑day accounting operations, including journal entries, reconciliations, AP/AR, bank and credit card reconciliations, and month‑end close.
- Prepare accurate and timely financial statements (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow) and management reports for executives.
- Maintain the general ledger and chart of accounts, ensuring transactions are properly recorded and categorized.
- Oversee payroll and employee expense reporting, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and proper documentation.
- Support tax compliance by organizing data for external tax advisors and helping with federal, state, local, and sales/use tax requirements.
- Design, document, and improve accounting processes and internal controls appropriate for a fast‑growing, founder‑led company.
- Partner with the offshore accounting resource in the Philippines to coordinate tasks, ensure accuracy, and align on close timelines.
- Monitor cash flow, payables, and receivables to help the founder stay ahead of liquidity and vendor obligations.
- Provide clear, simple explanations of financial results and trends to the founder, acting as a trusted partner in decision‑making.
- Assist with evaluating and setting up new entities or international structures as the company grows its global contracts.
- Respond to ad‑hoc requests from the founder, including project‑based analyses, vendor or pricing reviews, and scenario modeling as needed.
- 6–10 years of progressive accounting experience, ideally in a small or mid‑sized, growth‑oriented company (product, inventory, or consumer‑focused a plus).
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required;
- CPA or progress toward CPA highly preferred.
- Strong hands‑on experience with core accounting: general ledger, reconciliations, month‑end close, AP/AR, and cash management.
- Proven ability to prepare accurate financial statements (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow) and management reports.
- Microsoft Dynamics experience is required.
- Comfort working with multi‑entity or international vendors/customers; experience with global contracts is a plus.
- Solid knowledge of GAAP and familiarity with basic tax concepts; experience partnering with external CPA firms.
- Advanced Excel skills (pivots, lookups, building structured reports and simple models).
- Demonstrated track record improving processes, controls, and documentation in a lean, founder‑led environment.
