Audit Director
Progressive CPA firm in need of an Audit Director specializing in Government audits – Opportunity for Partnership – Work-life balance – Hybrid work setting. Relocation support provided.
ResponsibilitiesMaintain strong relationships with clients, understand their operations and control systems, and support engagement partner or function as the partner on assignments. Authorize attest opinions on behalf of the firm as the designated engagement partner. Oversee all engagement phases, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and firm guidelines. Keep engagement partner informed on client progress, identify issues, and implement effective solutions. Ensure proper scheduling of engagements, serve as a governmental sector expert, and supervise engagement teams.
Play a vital role in staff training, performance evaluations, and recruitment activities. Participate in business development initiatives, generate leads, estimate fees, and attend client meetings. Adhere to firm-wide policies and procedures at all times.
Minimum of 10 years’ experience in public accounting with 2 years in a senior manager role, including extensive experience in auditing public sector entities. Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field. Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license. Willingness to travel to client sites and firm offices. Demonstrated ability to bring in new business for a CPA firm. Expertise in General Accepted Governmental Auditing Standards (GAGAS/Yellow Book) and other related standards.
Maintain compliance with firm-wide policies and procedures. Proficient in directing, reviewing, and training staff, with exposure to not-for-profit audits.
Flexible work environment (remote, office, client site) as needed. Same-day and out-of-town travel required for client meetings and seminars. Overtime work anticipated throughout the year, with a higher demand from August to February.
