About This JobThe Senior Accountant is a key contributor to investor reporting and accounting operations in a highly regulated banking and public‑company environment. This role is responsible for the accuracy, timeliness, and control of journal entries, general ledger activity, investor and custodial reconciliations, and monthly and quarterly close deliverables. The position supports reporting for Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, Ginnie Mae, and private investors, including remittances, servicing transfers, payoff activity, and related regulatory and financial reporting.
Working closely with servicing, accounting & finance, secondary marketing and special assets, the Senior Accountant helps deliver high‑quality reporting, strong financial discipline, and effective support for regulatory compliance and enterprise risk management.
- Lead the preparation and review of investor reports, remittances, and accounting schedules for Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, Ginnie Mae, and private investors in accordance with established requirements and internal controls
- Own reconciliations across general ledger, custodial, clearing, principal and interest, escrow, and loan‑level accounts, and drive timely investigation and resolution of variances
- Support month‑end, quarter‑end, and year‑end close activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, and documentation required for management, audit, and external reporting
- Maintain a strong documentation and control framework in support of investor, audit, regulatory, and public‑company reporting expectations
- Analyze servicing‑related activity, remittance variances, servicing transfers, and payoff transactions, and support the timely resolution of complex accounting and operational exceptions
- Leverage sub‑ledger system, Jack Henry to support reporting, reconciliations, transaction processing, and continuous process improvement
- Prepare and support schedules, analyses, and documentation for investors, regulatory, audit, and external financial reporting requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably within servicing, banking, financial services, or a public‑company environment
- Strong knowledge of general ledger accounting, reconciliations, accruals, and month‑end close processes
- Experience supporting investor reporting, custodial account reconciliations, remittances, and servicing‑related accounting activities
- Working knowledge of mortgage servicing concepts, including principal and interest, escrow, servicing transfers, payoffs, and investor reporting requirements
- Familiarity with reporting requirements for Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, Ginnie Mae, and private investors is preferred
- Understanding of internal controls, audit support, regulatory compliance, and public‑company reporting expectations
- Proficiency in Excel and experience with accounting and mortgage servicing systems
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving skills, with close attention to accuracy and deadlines
- Effective written and verbal communication skills and the ability to partner across servicing, finance, treasury, compliance, and audit functions
- CPA or CPA candidacy preferred
