Jr. Staff Accountant

Description We are looking for a Jr. Staff Accountant to support daily accounting operations for a growing team in Irvine, California. This Long-term Contract position is well suited for an early-career accounting specialist who enjoys maintaining accurate financial records, assisting with transaction processing, and contributing to month-end activities. The role offers the opportunity to build hands-on experience across both payables and receivables while working in a collaborative environment.

Responsibilities:

- Process vendor invoices, prepare payment activity, and help ensure accounts payable transactions are completed accurately and on schedule.

- Record financial activity through journal entries and maintain organized documentation to support accounting records.

- Reconcile bank statements and investigate variances to keep cash activity aligned with the general ledger.

- Review account balances regularly, identify discrepancies, and resolve reconciliation issues in a timely manner.

- Support accounts receivable tasks by tracking incoming payments, applying cash receipts, and following up on outstanding items as needed.

- Assist with month-end close activities by preparing supporting schedules and verifying the accuracy of posted transactions.

- Maintain financial data with a high level of accuracy while following established accounting procedures and internal controls. Requirements - Experience or foundational knowledge in accounts payable and invoice processing.

- Familiarity with bank reconciliations and account reconciliation procedures.

- Understanding of accounts receivable activities, including payment posting and balance tracking.

- Ability to prepare and review accounting entries with strong attention to detail.

- Basic knowledge of accounting principles and standard financial recordkeeping practices.

- Proficiency with spreadsheets and accounting systems used for daily transaction management.

- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a deadline-driven setting.
