We are an established construction company with a strong reputation for quality work and long-standing client relationships. With a healthy backlog and continued growth, we are adding a Project Accountant to support our project teams and own the accounting for assigned jobs. This is an opportunity to join a stable company where accounting works closely with the field.

• Established contractor with a strong backlog and long-term client and subcontractor relationships
• Own the financial side of your jobs from contract through closeout rather than processing transactions in isolation
• Work directly with project managers and the field, seeing the work your numbers represent

• Growing team with a clear path toward Senior Project Accountant or Project Accounting Manager

This role owns job cost accounting and billing for assigned projects and partners closely with project management.

• Set up and maintain job budgets, cost codes, and contract records in the accounting system
• Prepare monthly progress billings, AIA applications for payment, and supporting lien waivers
• Track and post job costs including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor invoices
• Prepare and review the work in progress schedule, including revenue recognition and over and under billings
• Process subcontractor pay applications, verify insurance and compliance documents, and manage retention
• Prepare job cost reports and analyze budget to actual variances with project managers
• Process and track change orders, contract modifications, and their effect on job forecasts
• Support project closeout including final billing, retention release, and cost reconciliation
• Assist with month-end close entries, account reconciliations, and audit requests

• Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience in construction
• Experience with job cost accounting, progress billing, and AIA billing formats
• Working knowledge of work in progress schedules and percentage of completion revenue recognition
• Experience managing subcontractor compliance, lien waivers, and retention
• Strong Excel skills and experience with construction accounting software such as Sage 300 CRE, Viewpoint, or Procore
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting
