Staff Accountant

Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team in Irvine, California on a contract-to-permanent basis. This position will play an important role in keeping daily accounting operations on track, with a strong emphasis on accounts receivable, month-end activities, and audit support. The ideal candidate brings hands-on experience managing high-volume transactions, maintaining accurate financial records, and working effectively in a fast-paced office environment.

Responsibilities:

- Manage accounts receivable activities by recording incoming payments, reconciling deposits, researching customer account questions, and monitoring outstanding balances.

- Process large volumes of remittance information and accurately allocate payments across multiple invoices, orders, or customer accounts.

- Support the month-end close by preparing journal entries, recording accruals, completing account reconciliations, and maintaining detailed backup schedules.

- Perform balance sheet and bank reconciliations to help ensure the accuracy and completeness of financial records.

- Partner with the team to respond to audit requests by gathering documentation, organizing support files, and assisting with follow-up items.

- Help maintain continuity within the accounting department by providing dependable support during staffing shortages and prioritizing critical deadlines.

- Contribute to improving and stabilizing accounts receivable workflows to strengthen consistency, accuracy, and timely follow-through.

- Communicate progress regularly, work independently on assigned tasks, and raise thoughtful questions when clarification is needed. Requirements - At least 5 years of accounting experience, including substantial exposure to accounts receivable and general ledger activities.

- Demonstrated ability to manage month-end close tasks such as journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations.

- Experience completing balance sheet reconciliations and bank reconciliations with a high degree of accuracy.

- Proficiency in Excel and practical working knowledge of Quick Books.

- Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities and meet established deadlines.

- Clear and detail-oriented communication skills, along with a strong and detail-oriented presence in the office.

- Ability to work independently while providing consistent updates on progress and issues.

- Availability to work on-site in Irvine, California.
