Operations Administrative Captain Recruitment
The Operations Administrative Captain recruitment is an Orange County Fire Authority (OCFA) internal recruitment. Only applications from current, non-probationary OCFA Fire Captains will be accepted. This recruitment process will be used to fill the upcoming Operations Administrative Fire Captain vacancy. The Operations Administrative Captain works directly with the Assistant Chief of Field Operations - South.
WORK SCHEDULE:
The Operations Administrative Captain position requires a two (2) year commitment. Operations Administrative Captains are eligible for either a 9/80 or 4/10 work schedule, at the discretion of the Assistant Chief of Field Operations - South.

Side Letter Agreement -Eligibility for
SAP-SIP, Operations Administrative Fire Captains are eligible for 7.5% Staff Assignment Pay (SAP) and/or 10% Staff Incentive Pay (SIP). Please refer to the IAFF - Local 3631 MOU page 105 for additional information.
VEHICLE USE:
The Operations Administrative Captain has the use of an authority vehicle.
General duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
- Under the direction of the Assistant Chief of Field Operations - South, serve as a liaison with city, county, and state officials as directed.
- Participate in projects that the Assistant Chief of Field Operations - South have set as operational priorities.
- Represent the Fire Authority at various meetings and public events.
- Assist in planning, directing, and coordinating a variety of programs and activities.
- Research, analyze, and interpret technical data.
- Prepare written staff reports and oral presentations covering a variety of policy and procedural issues.
- Staff the Department Operations Center (DOC) during major incidents.
- Other miscellaneous administrative duties as necessary or required.
Administrative Staff Captains have the opportunity to participate in the following programs:
- Department Safety Officer and participate in the on-call program
- Public Information Officer and participate in the on-call program
- Current, non-probationary OCFA Fire Captain
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work closely with others
- Strong written communication and computer skills
