Job description
Summary:
The Commodity Manager is responsible for maintaining a robust and resilient supply chain by leading sourcing initiatives and effectively managing supplier relationships. This role involves close collaboration with internal and cross-functional stakeholders to capture business requirements, support the development and execution of sourcing strategies across multiple categories, evaluate supply market responses using a total cost of ownership model, and ensure the successful launch of new products as well as the sourcing transition of existing products.
Essential Job Functions:
- Collaborate with supply chain, program, engineering, and quality teams to align supply strategy to meet program goals.
- Assist in monitoring and tracking vendor performance through periodic financial reviews, and product performance.
- Develop sourcing strategies for existing suppliers across categories, and have the ability to identify, evaluate, and select new suppliers.
- Analyze spend data/trends to identify and develop overall strategic sourcing initiatives.
- Establish key sourcing performance indicators, monitor ongoing performance and drive continuous improvements.
- Identify potential suppliers and conduct thorough assessments to ensure they meet SEDA's quality & capability standards.
- Conduct RFQs, support cost analysis, and coordinate supplier selection decisions.
- Drive the assessment of supplier cost, quality, capability, capacity, and financials, in order to orchestrate the selection.
- Generate summary reports to present cost analysis to management for review and approval.
- Drive implementation of category strategies which will include spend/supply assessments, consolidation strategy, supplier selection, and financial analyses.
- Identify new and/or alternate sources of supply, develop and execute plan to consolidate supply base.
- Support compliance initiatives plus corporate commodity, logistics, and inventory strategies to achieve synergy across the operation.
- Support annual cost reductions, proactively manage purchase price variance and lead annual standard cost review.
- Support goals and objectives for the Supply Chain department that are flowed down by Company Supply Chain Roadmap and Operations objectives.
- Other duties may be assigned.
Travel and other specifics
- Travel Specificity – Potential travel between Irvine, California and other company sites, and supplier locations up to 20%.
- Physical Demands – Regular stationary work; occasional lifting up to 10 pounds; ability to use computer and office equipment; effective communication and information exchange.
- Work Environment – Office environment; typically quiet.
