Camp Counselors are integral to the Wild Rivers Junior Lifeguard experience. Each counselor supervises a group of campers, leads songs, participates in water & land activities, teaches CPR & basic lifeguard skills, plays games, rides the slides and manages day-to-day programming for our weekly sessions. The goal is to ensure campers have an enjoyable and educational experience.
Essential Job Functions- Camp Staff hours are Mondays, 7:00am-1:30pm and Tuesday-Friday, 7:30am-1:30pm (subject to change). Must be a morning person and ready to engage and interact with team and campers upon arrival.
- Camp hours for extended care are Monday-Friday 12:15pm-5:15pm (subject to change).
- Check kids into Camp and out of Camp using iPads and PIN numbers assigned to each parent/guardian.
- Carry a walkie talkie throughout the day: ensuring ongoing communication with the camp manager, supervisors, and other camp staff.

Maintain a welcoming atmosphere for all campers. - Support
Activities:
Facilitate and execute all planned skills sessions and activities for assigned camper groups daily. This includes CPR and Basic 1 st Aid. - Assist in Managing Operations:
Interact in various aspects of camp operations, including food service, maintenance, registration, and parent/camper relations. - Ensure Safety:
Maintain safety standards and enforce rules to ensure well-being of camper. This includes applying sunscreen and creating hydration opportunities. - Set Up Equipment:
Prepare and maintain equipment used for the Junior Guard Camp. - Initiate Movement and be Creative:
Keep the campers busy, engaged, and happy. - Play in the park:
Alongside the kids, ride the slides, get your hair wet and play. Create opportunities for your campers that are thrill seeker or timid to join up with other groups during “playing in the park”.
- Supervise and ride slides with campers while playing in the park.
- Reapply sunscreen and keep campers hydrated.
- Provide supervision during all activities, whether during snack time, quiet time in camp, while playing in park, trips to 1 st Aid & bathroom, etc.
- Check kids out of Camp and into Extended Care. Also keep a headcount on the kids.
- Use iPad and authorized PIN to check kids out.
- Carry a walkie talkie throughout camp.
- One person is to always stay in camp.
- Must be at least 18 years of age by June 15th, 2026.
- Certification:
Must have or be able to obtain a Star Guard lifeguarding certification. - High school diploma or equivalent preferred, desire to work with youth.
- Experience:
Experience working with children. - Reliability:
Must be patient and reliable, with punctual daily attendance and can work Monday-Friday. - Skills:
Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills are essential. - Flexibility:
Willingness to work lifeguard shifts as needed. - Enthusiasm:
Willingness to sing, dance, go down water slides, get hair wet, jump into the water, and interact/play with campers daily.
- Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand, walk and be active for long periods of time. - Ability to lift, push, pull, or carry up to 25 pounds.
- Lifeguarding skills:
Must be willing to become Lifeguard Certified, this includes using CPR or 1 st Aid skills on campers if necessary. - Water Activities
- Must we willing to play in water, swim, and ride water slides during camp hours. - Strong attention to detail and situational awareness exercise sound judgment during busy or stressful periods.
- Ability to work in warm or cold environments.
- Ability to solve problems quickly and exercise.
- Ability to communicate clearly with campers, parents, guests and team members.
- Device Policy:
Camp is a no-device zone; camp staff are not permitted to use devices during camp hours, except during the 30-minute lunch break or permitted by management. - Lunch Break:
