The primary duties of the Senior Construction Manager are to assist in pursuing projects with various public agencies and, once contracts are underway, to technically and administratively represent a project owner throughout construction on a variety of public and quasi-public infrastructure projects.
Responsibilities- Manage in‑house and sub‑consultant contracts and staff as point person for construction contract oversight.
- Coordinate subcontractor scheduling and quality control.
- Prepare the Project Management Plan and develop procedures for executing construction contract administration, including document, change, time, cost, quality, and safety management.
- Perform procurement activities, including construction schedules, subcontract scopes, and constructability reviews.
- Administer and manage construction activities, monitor progress, and control project budget and schedule.
- Coordinate project quality assurance and control, ensuring subcontractor compliance with the Health and Safety Program.
- Maintain healthy relationships with clients and oversight organizations across Southern California.
- Perform additional duties as required to support project delivery and business development goals.
- Professional Engineer (PE) or ability to attain within one year.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in highway and bridge projects, transit, rail grade separations, or other transportation‑related projects.
- Southern California experience preferred.
- Experience with Caltrans or similar DOT work.
- Valid driver’s license and compliance with HDR’s vehicle policy.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, Construction Science, or closely related field.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in construction planning and management, including contracts, document control, change management, and site safety.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and construction management software (Procore, Prolog, Primavera, Bluebeam, etc.).
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to interact with owners, engineers, contractors, and stakeholders.
