Job Summary
The Assistant Project Manager assists the Project Manager (PM) throughout the cleanroom construction project lifecycle, coordinating resources, communicating with stakeholders, and monitoring progress to completion.
Responsibilities Project Management- Work with the PM to oversee all aspects of day‑to‑day construction management, monitoring and coordinating work performed by architectural and engineering firms and applicable federal, state and local entities.
- Maintain a deep understanding of overall project construction and design.
- Assist in developing and monitoring the project schedule with the PM, Superintendent and Scheduler.
- Support safety efforts on the job site, identifying specific requirements to add to the safety manual.
- Manage the submittal process under PM oversight.
- Manage RFIs under PM and Superintendent oversight.
- Maintain positive interaction with Owners and A/E contracts to facilitate construction activities and promote Owner satisfaction.
- Assist the PM in providing subcontractor performance feedback/evaluations to Purchasing.
- Communicate with Owners and relay information to internal and external teams.
- Build long‑term relationships with clients, building trust and delivering quality support.
- Build positive relationships with the Project Manager and Superintendent through effective communication.
- Co‑responsible with the PM for training the APM, if applicable.
- Serve as a team player.
- Coordinate and manage owner meetings and minutes with the PM.
- Prepare weekly reports for the PM, Owner and Architect.
- Review and screen subcontractor/vendor invoices and requisitions for PM approval.
- Maintain event logs and distribute documentation promptly, reviewing subcontractor proposals in a timely fashion.
- Prepare and submit complete change‑order proposals to the PM for owner/architect submission.
- Maintain submittals, monitor the shop‑drawing process, and expeditiously coordinate with project engineers to ensure timely release for fabrication.
- Present submittal log information to the PM, Owner and Architect during weekly meetings.
- Maintain and follow up on RFIs and change‑order requests.
- Assist the PM in managing Prolog operations, including owner and subcontractor change management, document control, drawing logs, etc.
- Assist in administering subcontracts and purchase orders.
- Work with Accounting to ensure all subcontractor/vendor billings are received accurately and on time.
- Ensure timely preparation and submission of all subcontractor change events.
- Verify that all operations, work in progress and completed work comply with applicable codes, safety regulations, drawings, specifications and corporate policies.
- Ensure project operations are consistent with design specifications and corporate policies.
- Assist with warranty when needed, coordinating field calls, correcting material or installation defects, and monitoring warranty claims.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Civil, Electrical or Mechanical.
- Engineering experience of 0‑5+ years in relevant construction roles.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Project and Excel.
- Experience with Procore or similar construction management software.
- Ability to travel; work location on job site.
- Salary commensurate with education, experience, and market.
- Effective oral and written communication.
- Knowledge of building design and construction planning principles.
- Presentation development and delivery skills.
- Understanding of building estimates and feasibility studies.
- Ability to read schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals.
- Technical knowledge of building components and their functions.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, working effectively with diverse constituencies.
- Workflow analysis and management skills.
- Resource organization and priority setting.
- Ability to foster a cooperative business environment.
- Data gathering, information compilation, and report preparation.
- Familiarity with federal, state and local building codes, ordinances, regulations (OSHA 10 preferred).
$85,000.00 - $ per year
