Job Overview
Senior/Lead Estimator or Director of Estimating required for a well-established general contractor in Irvine, California. The position offers a competitive base salary of $140,000–$200,000, bonuses, benefits, profit sharing, 401(k) match and generous paid time off.
Responsibilities- Prepare and coordinate full-cost estimates for large, complex construction projects.
- Analyze bid documents and specifications for risk and feasibility.
- Review and evaluate cost estimates to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and architects during construction to ensure cost efficiency and accuracy.
- Present project proposals to clients.
- Negotiate and clarify contract terms with clients and subcontractors.
- Review design options and recommend best solutions based on cost, engineering quality, or availability of materials.
- Track and analyze historical data for future estimating.
- Develop and maintain relationships with key suppliers and subcontractors for optimal terms.
- Provide consultation on planning, scheduling, and cost summary reports.
- Stay updated on estimating technology and industry trends.
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field.
- Minimum of 9 years of construction estimating experience, preferably in the industrial sector.
- In-depth knowledge of construction methodologies, project management, and financial accounting.
- Strong experience with estimating software and spreadsheet tools.
- Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail.
- Strong negotiation and communication skills.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings and technical specifications.
- Certified Professional Estimator (CPE) or similar certification is a plus.
- Proven ability to lead and manage the estimating process on large and complex projects.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and project management software.
- Team player with proactive attitude and ability to work under pressure.
