Position Summary

The Estimator role is critical for the success of a restoration company. Estimators create estimates in Xactimate using program guidelines and IICRC standards. They must be detail‑oriented, understand the commercial and insurance restoration industry, and possess a basic construction background that includes knowledge of building materials, flooring, and other materials impacted by wind, water, fire, smoke, and other property damage.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Inspect and scope jobs onsite and work with Project Manager/ Crew Chief/ Lead Tech on job scope.
  • Document loss with clear, descriptive job photos and upload into the operating system/software.
  • Write mitigation and reconstruction estimates using Xactimate and other estimating software.
  • Communicate conversations and key information on the job using the notes feature in required software.
  • Estimate using carrier audit standards and manage the estimate based on feedback from client and customer.
  • Communicate with project manager/lead tech to ensure all required documentation is complete (photos, notes, and signed documents).
  • Record drying using mobile software.
  • Determine labor and equipment costs.
  • Prepare accurate quantity takeoffs and material pricing.
  • Communicate with insurance companies and adjusters via phone and e‑mail in a timely manner and act as a liaison.
  • Manage all estimate documents and assess project risks.
  • Review quotes and estimates with the construction project team.
  • Address estimate exceptions in a timely manner.
Physical Demands and Working Conditions
  • Move up to 70 pounds frequently, by lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, or otherwise repositioning objects.
  • Stand and walk for extended periods of time; lifting, squatting, crawling, and crouching are required.
  • Express or exchange ideas with others and receive and act on detailed information given.
  • For safety reasons, be able to use respirators that seal to the face.
  • Be exposed to various indoor and outdoor working conditions, including changes in temperature due to air conditioning and heating.
