Traveling Construction Manager | Industrial EPC Projects
This traveling Construction Manager role supports industrial environmental construction and EPC projects throughout the Western United States. You will initially lead field execution for a major industrial facility restart project in Southern California, then transition into additional environmental, remediation, and industrial construction assignments across the region. You act as the primary field execution lead, overseeing daily contractor activities, coordinating construction, monitoring safety, managing documentation, and maintaining clear communication with Project Managers and project stakeholders.
This position is heavily field-focused and requires a high degree of travel flexibility and comfort working on assignment-based project schedules.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as the field execution lead for industrial environmental construction and EPC projects across the Western United States.
- Oversee daily construction activities and subcontractor performance to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant execution.
- Monitor site safety conditions and verify compliance with project requirements, health and safety protocols, and applicable regulations.
- Verify permits, project documentation, and contractor qualifications prior to and during field activities.
- Document project progress through detailed daily reports, site observations, and field notes.
- Identify field changes, constructability issues, and potential risks, and communicate schedule, cost, and scope impacts to the Project Management team.
- Monitor schedule performance and track construction execution activities against project milestones.
- Support RFI management, submittal reviews, and other project documentation processes.
- Utilize Autodesk Construction Cloud to prepare daily reports, track field activities, and manage project data.
- Participate in project meetings, contractor coordination sessions, and field planning discussions.
- Coordinate field execution with industrial operations, environmental remediation activities, and other concurrent site work.
- Travel regionally to support active EPC, environmental, remediation, and industrial projects as business needs require.
- Support decommissioning, demolition, and industrial infrastructure activities in heavy industrial environments where applicable.
- Collaborate closely with EPC leadership to implement best practices and standard procedures in the field.
- Contribute to building and supporting a regional EPC delivery team and help transition from project-based support into a long-term leadership capacity.
Essential
Skills:
- Proven construction management experience with a strong focus on field execution and contractor oversight.
- Background in industrial construction and environmental construction, including work in active industrial environments.
- Hands-on experience with construction documentation, including daily reports, RFIs, submittals, and progress tracking.
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate schedules and monitor construction execution against project milestones.
- Strong safety observation skills and familiarity with health and safety practices on industrial construction sites.
- Field coordination experience managing subcontractors in active construction environments.
- Travel flexibility and willingness to support assignment-based project schedules throughout the Western United States.
- Experience working on projects exceeding $1M in value.
- Experience in refinery, environmental remediation, petrochemical facilities, groundwater treatment, industrial wastewater, manufacturing, utility, or industrial infrastructure environments.
- Ability to work effectively on industrial environmental construction projects and EPC assignments with significant field presence.
- Strong written documentation skills, including clear and accurate daily reporting.
Additional Skills &
Qualifications:
- 5–10 years of construction management or superintendent experience.
- Experience in environmental remediation, refineries, petrochemical facilities, groundwater treatment, industrial wastewater, manufacturing, heavy industrial facilities, or similar environments.
- Exposure to decommissioning, demolition, and environmental engineering projects is beneficial.
- Experience with Autodesk Construction Cloud is preferred.
- Familiarity with Autodesk software tools and other construction technology platforms.
- Exposure to Microsoft Project and Primavera P6 is considered a plus but not required.
- Preferred certifications include OSHA 30 and OSHA 40 / HAZWOPER; strong candidates may obtain these after hire.
- Experience working in health and safety–focused environments with strong emphasis on safe work practices.
- Interest in growing into a long-term leadership role within a regional EPC organization.
- Motivation to work within a global engineering and environmental consulting context and contribute to the expansion of West Coast EPC operations.
