Position Overview:
We are seeking an accomplished and visionary leader to serve as Dean of the Humanities Department for our high school program. This position oversees the academic disciplines of English Language Arts, History/Social Science, and related fields.
The ideal candidate will be a dedicated, forward-thinking educator with a proven record of instructional excellence, collaborative leadership, and curriculum innovation. The Dean will provide strategic and instructional leadership, guiding faculty in the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of a rigorous, cohesive, and interdisciplinary humanities curriculum.
Key responsibilities include fostering a culture of academic excellence, mentoring faculty, promoting best pedagogical practices, and ensuring alignment of departmental goals with the school’s broader educational mission. The successful candidate will demonstrate exceptional communication, organization, and interpersonal skills, along with a deep commitment to nurturing intellectual curiosity and critical inquiry among students.
Key Responsibilities- Provide academic leadership and strategic direction for the humanities department
- Oversee curriculum planning, assessment development, and instructional quality across humanities subjects
- Mentor and support teachers through observations, coaching, and feedback
- Ensure alignment with state standards and college preparatory expectations
- Promote interdisciplinary learning and integration of critical thinking, writing, and communication skills
- Collaborate with school leadership on hiring, scheduling, and professional development; serve as a liaison between faculty and administration
- Analyze student performance data and lead improvement initiatives as needed
- Minimum of 5 years of full-time teaching experience at the U.S. high school level, preferably in multiple humanities subject areas
- Proven record of instructional excellence and leadership within a school setting
- Master's degree in English, History, Education, or a related humanities field
- Strong understanding of AP curriculum frameworks, project-based learning, and standards-based grading
- Exceptional communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
- Experience in teacher coaching, curriculum development, and assessment planning preferred
- Authorization to work in the U.S.
