Substitute Teacher

Position: Substitute Teacher 2025-2026
The Irvine Unified School District comprises a diverse population of more than 36,000 PK-12 students in one early childhood learning center, 24 elementary schools, five K-8 schools, six middle schools, five high schools and one alternative high school. IUSD schools have been nationally recognized for comprehensive programs in academics, the arts, and athletics.

Required:

Valid California Teaching Credential or Pupil Personnel Services Credential

OR Emergency 30 Day Substitute Teaching Permit Current Daily Rate - $180/day (over 4 hours)
Half Day Rate - $115/day (less than 4 hours)
Long Term Rate (goes into effect on the 16th consecutive day in the same assignment): $220/day (full days) $140/day (half days)
IUSD Student Teachers - you do not need to apply here to be hired as a substitute while student teaching. Please see the administrator at the IUSD site you are student teaching at and give them your information, you should receive an email from HR directly once they add you to our list.

You must scan the documents listed below and attach them to your IUSD EdJoin application.

Please make sure that your documents can be easily read - Edjoin has a size limit of 1MB per file. If the file is too large, it may need to be re-scanned at a lower resolution.

Please make sure that you are listing ALL schools or school districts (including out-of-state/out-of-country) where you have previously held a Certificated Substitute, Certificated Teaching, or Certificated position ("Certificated" means that you had to have a credential in order to do the job) within this section of the application - it is different than your work history. IUSD will not be able to complete the hiring process until we have sent out, and received back, an AB2534 inquiry from each of your previous schools or school districts.

Teaching Assistants, Instructional Assistants or Instructional Aide positions are not considered certificated and do not need to be included in the AB2534 section. Edjoin notifies you multiple times that this section is required. If you leave it blank, and have previously worked at multiple schools/districts per your work history and resume, your application will be considered incomplete and you will not be considered for hire.
