Preschool Assistant Teacher / Aide (Infant / Toddler)
- Full-time
- Compensation: USD 18 - USD 23 - hourly
At Mariners Church Preschool (MCP), our goal is to create a loving, Christ‑centered environment where children (birth through 5 years old) grow in faith and thrive in early childhood development.
Responsibilities- Support the teacher in creating a nurturing, Christ‑centered classroom where children feel loved, safe, and encouraged to grow.
- Assist in implementing engaging, age‑appropriate activities and daily routines.
- Provide hands‑on support with classroom set‑up, clean‑up, and maintaining a safe, organized environment.
- Supervise children during play, snack, rest, and transition times, ensuring safety and positive interactions.
- Build caring, supportive relationships with children, parents, and staff.
- Model Christ‑like behavior and share the love of Jesus in age‑appropriate ways.
- Assist with child assessments, record keeping, and preparation of learning materials as directed by the teacher.
- Work collaboratively with co‑teachers and the MCP team to provide high‑quality care and learning experiences.
- Participate in staff meetings, training, and school events as needed.

- A cooperative, flexible attitude and willingness to serve.
- Ability to communicate effectively with both children and adults.
- An interest in early childhood education and a desire to learn and grow in the field.
- Meets Title 22 requirements for assistant teachers in a licensed child care center.
- Stand, walk, kneel, and sit on the floor for extended periods.
- Lift and carry children up to 40 pounds.
- Support and supervise children during active play, both indoors and outdoors.
- React quickly in emergencies and provide basic first aid if needed.
- Minimum of 2 units in Early Childhood Education/Child Development required; 6 units preferred. Candidates with only 2 units must provide proof of ongoing enrollment each semester until 6 units are completed.
- 6 months of experience in a licensed child care center preferred.
- Current CPR/First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Record of immunizations: current TB test clearance, MMR, DTaP.
- Clear Live Scan and Criminal Background check.
- Able to work a consistent weekly 8 hour schedule within center hours (7am–6pm).
