The Advisor Support Specialist will support the academic advising responsibilities for the Online Psychology programs. This position will work collaboratively with the Student Services Office, the Online Psychology program students, faculty and staff, and the Associate Dean's Office.

Duties
  • Advisement duties:
    • Processing program plan change requests, leave of absences, plan extensions, modality changes, graduation applications, coordinating the grade check process four times a year (Fall, Winter, Spring, and Summer).
    • Audit incomplete grades and failing grades.
    • Guide students in the academic appeals process as needed.
  • Processing course waivers and transfer credit for the Online Psychology students in People Soft, and sending all supporting documentation to the Registrar's Office.
  • Generate reports and audit student records for academic progress.
  • Work closely with the 2U Student Support staff to monitor enrollment and support the students in the Online Psychology programs.
  • Coordinate communication with the Online Psychology Student Support staff and the Online Psychology students.
  • The on-going communication will include:
    • Important term dates and deadlines, school and University events and programming, and updates to policies and procedures at the school and University.
  • Other duties or projects assigned.
  • Uphold University mission through work performed.
Skills and Qualifications

Required:
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in education or a related field.
  • Ability to demonstrate care and compassion in a student-centered environment and establish positive relationships with students, faculty, and staff.
  • Ability to sustain productivity while managing multiple projects.
  • Appropriate use of technology as required for the position.
Preferred:
  • Master's degree.
  • Three years of experience working with students in higher education.

    Ability to demonstrate strong interpersonal and counseling skills in working with a diverse student, faculty, and staff population.
  • Ability to maintain a professional manner and confidentiality when dealing with sensitive student information and situations.
  • Ability to interpret and apply University policies in a manner that supports students and complies with University policies.
  • Strong organizational skills and a willingness to learn.
  • Working knowledge of People Soft, Google Suite, and document storage systems.

This is a Restricted, Nonexempt, 30 hour per week position that may be eligible for remote or hybrid work in accordance with the University Policy Manual.

Expected Pay Rate: $25.00 per hour

The above pay range reflects what Pepperdine University reasonably expects to pay for this position at time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on relevant factors such as work experience, market conditions, education/training, and skill level. In addition to base pay, Pepperdine offers a robust and highly competitive benefits package.
