Pay Range Information
Chapman University is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this position. This range takes into account a variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. Salary offers are determined based on the final candidate’s qualifications and experience, as well as internal equity and other internal factors.
The anticipated pay range is not a promise of a particular wage.

Job Description Summary
The Legal Research and Instruction Librarian is a member of the team that provides research services to law library users, teaches in the library’s instructional program, and supports the educational needs of the Law School community, with a particular focus on legal technology. The librarian helps staff the Research Office; conducts and delivers in-depth research; teaches legal research and technology competencies in classroom, clinic, and online settings;
and collaborates to develop and expand library services and digital learning resources. This position requires a strong commitment to teaching legal research and technology skills essential to the practice of law, and a deep understanding of the Law School’s curriculum, faculty research interests, library operations, legal information resources, data and empirical sources, and research methodologies in all formats, with attention to accessibility, privacy, and information and data literacy.
Responsibilities
Provide research instruction to the Law School community.
- Design, deliver, and continually improve legal research instruction across the curriculum including legal writing courses, upper-level doctrinal classes, seminars, and clinics.
- Teach advanced legal research, specialized research and legal technology topics.
