Job Description
WSP has an exciting opportunity for a highly skilled Senior Vice President, Mechanical Engineer with deep experience in the Property & Buildings sector, Healthcare sector, based in Irvine, CA. This person can also sit in our Los Angeles, CA office. WSP Property and Buildings business line has seen rapid growth across multiple sectors, including healthcare institutions. This role focuses on developing strategy, leading pursuits and multidiscipline engineering teams, and growing relationships in the healthcare market while delivering innovative, future-ready solutions.
To respond to this growth, WSP’s Property and Building Business has an opportunity for a Healthcare Sector Leader to join our teams in California Region and beyond. This is a growth position for motivated candidates looking to expand their influence in the building industry. As a Senior Vice President – Healthcare Sector Leader, you will develop and grow relationships in the healthcare market, develop strategy, lead pursuits and multidisciplinary engineering teams.
This position may involve joining our Midwest teams in a leadership role to grow a team focused on Healthcare Clients.
- Business Development
- Externally focused on business development, client outreach, and pursuit management.
- Drive the overall long-term strategy, growth, and pipeline development of Mechanical Engineering work for WSP in the assigned area, focusing on infrastructure opportunities in all disciplines (planning, design, and strategic consulting and program/construction management).
- Funnel information and communicate with the Marketing Team and Operations Team.
- Develop high-level business contacts and a client base for providing high-level mechanical engineering services, identifying additional business development opportunities and cross-selling other WSP capabilities.
- Leadership
- Develop, coach, train, and value our people.
- Oversee the implementation of process changes.
- Lead technical aspects of contract negotiation, presentations, and meetings.
- Resource projects and coordinate with other offices and business lines for intercompany work.
- Lead engineering discipline meetings and continuing educational opportunities, providing updates and recommendations to staff to foster innovation, development, and quality project delivery.
- Provide discipline leadership to multi-disciplinary project teams and contribute to providing high-level strategic advice to clients.
- Provide performance guidance and proactive leadership to assigned managers and staff.
- Collaborate with professionals from various disciplines to provide future-ready solutions for clients.
- Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources, and conduct, adhering to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
- Technical
- Provide technical assistance on engineering, design, and construction issues related to automatic temperature control systems and specifications, air distribution, hydronic systems, and plumbing systems.
- Remain current in the latest mechanical engineering techniques and practices.
- Serve as the engineering discipline’s representative to external entities including Federal, State, and Local Agencies, Clients, Subcontractors, and industry groups.
- Interpret and summarize data for complex projects and initiatives to reach sound engineering and regulatory conclusions.
- Project Management
- Lead and deliver projects with accountability for profitability and successful completion within the specified area.
- Provide senior leadership for proposals and project work scopes, pricing, budget, and performance metrics for the engineering discipline and contractor negotiations.
- Oversee preliminary pricing development, risk analysis, and go/no go processes during proposal and scoping phases.
