WSP is currently initiating a search for an Assistant Vice President, Transportation Planning for the Southern California geography. This strategic role is based in any of the following locations:
Los Angeles, San Diego, Irvine, Oakland, or San Francisco. The position will strengthen and expand our transportation planning practice locally and support key public agencies such as the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority, Metropolitan Transportation Commission, Caltrain, the cities of San Diego and Los Angeles, Southern California Association of Governments, and many others.

- Lead and coordinate transportation planning initiatives in Southern California, partnering with local agencies and stakeholders to develop long‑range plans and operational strategies.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to deliver integrated solutions that address complex transportation challenges and support the growth of WSP’s transportation practice.
- Represent WSP at industry events, conferences, and public forums (e.g., WTS, APA, ACEC, Chamber of Commerce) to advocate for innovative transportation solutions and strengthen client relationships.
- Support business development efforts by identifying new opportunities, developing scopes of work, and contributing to pursuit and proposal activities.
- Maintain and reinforce WSP’s core values across all functions, fostering a culture of collaboration, inclusion, and continuous improvement.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in transportation planning or related discipline, with a Bachelor’s Degree in Planning, Public Policy, or a related field, or equivalent experience in the A/E/C industry.
- Experience developing scopes of work, directing work, and responding to RFPs or RFQs in professional environmental or planning services.
- Strong business acumen, strategic thinking, and a proven track record of leadership and personal accountability.
- Demonstrated ability to innovate and rethink conventional approaches to client and employee engagement.
- Strong relationship‑building skills and a network of relevant client contacts in Southern California.
- Commitment to client service, ethical decision‑making, and adherence to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies.
- Proven commitment to workplace safety and compliance with WSP’s health, safety, and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
- Master’s Degree is preferred.
- Essential professional licensure or certification in transportation planning or a related discipline.

CompensationExpected Salary (all locations): $99,100 - $176,550. WSP USA reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant’s sex or other status protected by local, state, and/or federal law.
