Responsibilities
  • Analyzes electric system operating data and makes timely decisions that ensure safe and reliable operation of the company system.

  • Leads investigations and root cause analyses of equipment failure, major grid failures, and unscheduled outages, developing next‑generation solutions and interventions.

  • Attends project planning meetings to provide operations requirements and ensures that all operating requirements are met.

  • Directs the development of regional outage management programs and provides strategic guidance on preventing wide‑area transmission disturbances.

  • Provides thorough and timely updates to leadership, keeping stakeholders aware of important details.

  • Resolves technical issues with customer grid interconnections and interfaces with external customers on interconnection requirements.

  • Develops strategic solutions to complex substation problems, partnering with cross‑company teams and utilizing deep operational knowledge to resolve issues.

  • Researches and implements emerging technologies, driving adoption in order to enhance real‑time monitoring.

  • A material job duty of all positions within the Company is ensuring the protection of all its physical, financial and cybersecurity assets, and properly accessing and managing private customer data, proprietary information, confidential medical records, and other types of highly sensitive information and data with the highest standards of conduct and integrity.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Ten or more years of experience in electric system operations.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience leading teams or guiding technical staff, including mentoring, workload coordination, and quality assurance of complex operational deliverables.

  • Experience performing power system analysis, such as power flow analysis.

  • Ability to lead cross‑functional groups, influence without authority, and drive consensus on technical and operational decisions.

  • Experience managing the development, evaluation, and continuous improvement of teamwork products, processes, and operational capabilities.

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in Engineering or related technical field.

  • Knowledge and experience with ISO operations and control of the generation and transmission system.

  • NERC Certified System Operator.

  • Knowledge of NERC standards, WECC policies, and CAISO procedures.

  • Ability to integrate work across relevant areas, develop the business and services to improve customer satisfaction and productivity, manage risks appropriately, handle information, and provide exceptional service to internal and external customers.

  • Effective resource and project planning, decision making, results delivery, team building, and the ability to know the latest relevant technology and innovation.

  • Knowledge and practical experience with iTOA (Integrated Tools for Outage Analysis) software, including outage request creation, validation, and workflow management.

  • Five or more years of experience with outage request coordination procedures, including compliance requirements, scheduling practices, and integration with CAISO and internal operational processes.

  • Working knowledge of system protection principles, including protective relaying, switching procedures, and the impacts of protection schemes on outage planning and real‑time operations.
