Job Overview

Level Crane Systems is seeking a driven and detail-oriented Mechanical Project Engineer to manage engineered overhead crane and material handling projects from initial estimate through commissioning and customer acceptance. This hybrid office/field role combines mechanical engineering, structural analysis, industrial equipment expertise, and hands‑on project management.

We specialize in engineered crane systems ranging from 5 to 50 tons, serving aerospace, manufacturing, warehousing, heavy industrial, and specialty applications.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage multiple overhead crane and material handling projects simultaneously
  • Develop and maintain detailed project schedules
  • Coordinate engineering, fabrication, procurement, and installation teams
  • Track project budgets and maintain profitability targets
  • Provide consistent project updates to customers and internal stakeholders
  • Support final commissioning, testing, and customer acceptance
  • Prepare accurate technical estimates and proposals for crane systems
  • Conduct or review site surveys and gather field data
  • Develop preliminary layouts, specifications, and system configurations
  • Respond to RFPs and public bid opportunities
  • Provide technical expertise to support the sales team
Technical Oversight & Compliance
  • Prepare and review submittals, drawings, specifications, and data sheets
  • Review shop drawings for compliance with project requirements
  • Troubleshoot field issues related to structural loads, rigging, and system integration
  • Ensure compliance with CMAA, OSHA, ANSI, and applicable safety standards
  • Provide technical guidance to installation crews
Cross-Functional Coordination
  • Collaborate with the Engineering Manager and Service Manager
  • Maintain documentation in CRM and project management systems
  • Participate in pipeline reviews and project meetings
  • Support process improvements and continuous improvement initiatives
Qualifications
  • Required:
    • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering
    • 1–3 years of experience in mechanical engineering, structural engineering, industrial equipment, construction engineering, or HVAC engineering
    • Proficiency in AutoCAD or similar CAD software
    • Strong Microsoft Excel skills (budgeting, cost tracking, analysis)
    • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications
    • Understanding of structural loads, mechanical systems, and industrial equipment
    • Strong organizational and project management skills
  • Preferred:
    • Experience with overhead cranes, bridge cranes, gantry cranes, or material handling systems
    • Experience with MS Project, Smartsheet, Asana, or similar tools
    • CRM experience (Hub Spot, Salesforce, etc.)
    • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification
    • Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) certification
    • Bilingual English/Spanish
