ResponsibilitiesThe R&D Technician provides hands‑on technical support for the design, testing, and development of drug‑coated balloons and combination medical device products. This role assists engineers in building prototypes, performing laboratory tests, and collecting and documenting technical data to ensure accuracy and compliance throughout the development cycle.
Key Responsibilities- Assemble and test prototype devices under the direction of R&D engineers.
- Prepare and maintain laboratory equipment, fixtures, and tooling used in product development.
- Perform mechanical, dimensional, and functional testing of components and finished assemblies.
- Support coating, bonding, and balloon assembly processes for device prototypes.
- Accurately record test data, maintain lab notebooks, and assist in data analysis.
- Follow established procedures and GMP/GLP standards during testing and documentation.
- Conduct cleaning, calibration, and maintenance of laboratory instruments.
- Maintain an organized work area and ensure compliance with safety requirements.
- Assist in developing and improving manufacturing and testing procedures.
- Participate in troubleshooting and problem‑solving activities during prototype builds.
Required Qualifications
- Associate degree in Engineering, Science, or related technical field, or equivalent hands‑on experience.
- 2+ years of experience in a laboratory or production environment.
- Basic understanding of mechanical testing, measurement tools, and technical drawings.
- Familiarity with documentation practices in a regulated setting.
- Experience in medical device or combination product development.
- Knowledge of coating, bonding, or catheter assembly processes.
- Familiarity with cleanroom practices and safety protocols.
- Excellent manual dexterity and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to follow instructions and work independently when required.
- Organized and proactive approach to completing assigned tasks.
- Commitment to quality, safety, and continuous improvement.
- Laboratory and cleanroom environments.
- Standing or sitting for extended periods during assembly and testing.
- May require light lifting (up to 25 lbs.).
- You must wear appropriate PPE and follow EHS guidelines.
The expected pre‑tax pay rate for this position is $29 per hour. Actual pay may fluctuate outside of the listed range depending on skills, education, experience, job‑related knowledge and location.
