Responsibilities

We are looking for an accountable and technically skilled Embedded Linux Kernel Developer to join our engineering team. In this role, you will be responsible for architecting, developing, and maintaining the core software stack for embedded platforms, including the Linux kernel, boot loader, BSP, toolchain, and initramfs. You will collaborate closely with hardware engineers, test engineers, and other team members to ensure seamless hardware-software integration and deliver reliable, high-performance solutions.

Strong ownership, initiative, and technical expertise are essential for success in this position.

What You Will Be Doing:

* Develop, customize, and maintain the Linux kernel, including device drivers and kernel modules for embedded platforms.

* Design and implement bootloaders (e.g., U-Boot) and manage secure and reliable system startup processes.

* Bring up Board Support Packages (BSPs) for custom hardware platforms ensuring seamless integration between hardware and software.

* Design and implement software components from a boot loader to an operating system including Linux kernel, synchronization primitives, resource allocators, memory management, security, I/O systems, file system and storage (FLASH, SD, SSD, eMMC, UFS, etc), and various device drivers.

* Develop and configure initramfs and early user-space environments to support system initialization.

* Strong proficiency in C/C++, shell scripting, and build systems (e.g., Yocto, Buildroot).

* Build and optimize tool chains for cross-compilation and embedded development workflows.

* Solid understanding of hardware-software interaction, memory management, and low-level system architecture.

* Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across disciplines.

* Collaborate with hardware engineers to bring up new boards and resolve integration issues.

* Work with test engineers to define validation strategies and ensure software quality through testing.

* Take ownership of deliverables, demonstrate accountability, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

* Demonstrated ability to take initiative, own tasks end-to-end, and deliver high-quality results under tight deadlines.

* Communicate effectively across disciplines to drive project success and resolve technical challenges.

* Translates designs into software by analyzing functional specifications and interpreting complex system design specifications and provides systems engineering support on large- scale systems, major system elements, and/or interfacing systems, requiring extensive investigation and clarification.

* Reviews, evaluates, and analyzes design interfaces. Prepares, reviews, and evaluates interface documentation, specifications, test plans and procedures.
