Job Summary

The qualified candidate should have hands‑on experience with Digital/Analog power electronics circuits. He/She should be able to contribute to both existing legacy circuits and to the design and development of state-of-the-art Power Conversion Systems. The product line particularly consists of online Double Conversion Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) and related support circuitry. Candidates will be involved in every part of the development cycle from conceptual design to implementation, testing, qualification, and on‑time delivery.

Candidates must be able to commute to offices in Irvine, CA and Orange, CA.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain legacy products and contribute to new R&D projects.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop system‑level testing and validation.
  • Combine legacy boards and products with newly designed systems to realize a new operating product.
  • Conduct troubleshooting and root cause analysis of circuits and board failures.
  • Analyze component stress, requirements, and select appropriate parts.
  • Perform full product lifecycle: initial design, design verification, qualification, initial production, and integration.
  • Other tasks assigned by management.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
  • Minimum of 7 years of hands‑on experience in Power Electronics, controls, and online dual conversion UPS.
  • Technical expertise in Power Electronics and converters, DSP interface, Digital and analog control loops, Magnetics (high & low frequency inductors and transformers) and Battery energy storage.
  • Experience with Battery Energy storage systems (Lead Acid, Lithium Iron Phosphate, etc.) for backup UPS power.
  • Proficiency with oscilloscope, supply sources, signal generators, and circuits.
  • Proficiency with component modeling using PSPICE, MATLAB/Simulink, etc.
  • Deep expertise in power switches such as MOSFETs, IGBTs, SCRs, SiC technology.
  • Ability to independently design, develop and test circuit boards and systems.
  • Hands‑on experience in validation, verification processes and qualification of new or alternate components.
  • Knowledge of 1‑phase and 3‑phase PFC Converter, 1‑phase and 3‑phase Inverter, DC‑DC High Frequency Converter and Buck/Boost battery charger/discharger (power rating 500 W to 20 kW).
  • Design/test for EMI filter.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Legal right to work in the U.S. and authorized to access export‑controlled information and source code.
Desired Qualifications
  • Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering with focus on power electronics.
  • Familiarity with protocols such as RS232, CAN, SPI.
  • Experience with control‑loop designs (PI, PID, Feed‑forward, LC and LCL filter design).
  • Experience with MIL‑STD‑461F, MIL‑STD‑1399‑300B, MIL‑STD‑810G, MIL‑STD‑167A.
  • Experience in motor drives, power supplies, etc.
  • Expertise in EMI design and practical troubleshooting.
  • Comprehensive product lifecycle experience.
  • Proficiency in PCB design and layout using Altium.
  • Expertise in inductors and transformers design, including high‑frequency applications.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
