Principal Data Engineer

Skyworks Solutions, Inc. is seeking a talented Principal Data Engineer to lead our Databricks and data development initiatives working closely with the business and the data architect to implement solutions. As a Principal Data Engineer, you will collaborate with Skyworks’ global data team, build data pipelines from source to data lake, promote data to various medallion layers in the data lake, and manage the corporate Azure data lake.

Additionally, you will partner with Skyworks’ AI and ML teams.

• Implementation of scalable and secure data platforms.
• Work closely with Skyworks Enterprise Architecture and Product teams to implement a modern data architecture.
• Implement ETL (extract, transform, load) pipelines as well as
• Design, build and own data models, data flows, and integration patterns for the data lake, data lakehouse, and consumption data layers.
• Support data engineers in building and managing conceptual, logical and physical models of data architecture.
• Be involved in all project phases and drive data architecture initiatives.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or closely related field;
  Master’s degree in related field is a plus
• 8+ years of IT experience supporting large scale application projects.
• 5+ years of hands‑on development experience in large solutions at scale for cloud data platforms.
• Has hands on experience architecting and building secure, scalable, and flexible enterprise data projects in Microsoft Azure.

• Expertise in building secure and scalable data ingestion, ETL/ELT solutions using Azure Databricks, Azure Data Factory, or similar tools.
• Experience designing data structures and models for data lakes and cloud data lake houses for downstream analytics applications.
• Strong SQL skills and programming skills using Python and Pyspark
• Comfortable working within an agile environment and collaborating with product owners in creating and managing technical backlog of stories and epics.
• Experience with orchestration and automation of data pipelines to build Dev Ops model.
• Strong communicator individually, in groups and in presentations with a vision for how cloud data platforms can enable a better future powered by data.

• Experience with Dev Ops and Data Ops (Terraform, Azure Dev Ops, Unity Catalog and Purview)
• Experience in machine learning including ML Flow.
• Experience in containerization (Docker), Kubernetes, and container deployment.
• Knowledge of the semiconductor manufacturing industry

• Effective communication skills (verbal, written, presentation)
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
• Proficient at working in Agile project methodologies
• Good time‑management and organizational skills
• Comfortable multitasking between multiple projects
• Ability to work on challenging issues independently or in a team environment
• Ability to work effectively with international and multicultural teams and with all levels of management

The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is currently USD $124,400 - $235,700 per year. Starting base pay will depend on relevant experience and skills, training and education, business needs, market demands, the ultimate job duties and requirements, and work location.
