Position Summary

Responsible to lead, manage, and provide technical direction to a product development engineering team for a major product, system, or program. Defines plans, monitors and controls scope, costs, schedule and technical performance; coordinates the technical effort and establishes operational plans to accomplish program objectives.

Scope, Supervision, and Interaction
  • Reports to engineering management or may be the engineering functional manager for a business unit or a small division.
  • Coordinates with internal teams or interdependent departments within the business unit and may coordinate cross-discipline engineering teams.
  • Has regular internal and external interaction with program management or customers on technical projects assigned to the team.

Essential Functions
  • Define plans and monitor costs (non‑recurring and recurring), schedule and technical performance for major product development or core engineering projects.
  • Implement ongoing project status reviews using project management tools and engineering systems, maintaining effort within defined scope, cost and schedule constraints.
  • Makes decisions on technical priorities or design alternatives; acts as primary technical contact and advisor to engineering or business unit leadership.
  • Build and maintain collaborative relationships with internal and external customers and ensure customer needs are identified and addressed.
  • Implement and maintain consistent engineering practices, standards, and documentation procedures and reporting systems (e.g., Win ovation, structured product development processes, gate reviews, engineering change flow).
  • Develop and analyze the operating budget; project and plan for future needs, monitor and manage conformance to contractual, schedule and cost performance elements.
  • Manage technical project execution within budget and schedule constraints using project management processes and tools.
  • Compile engineering cost and schedule data and identify opportunities for process improvements to reduce cost and/or schedule to improve engineering productivity.
  • Makes recommendations and decisions on human resources actions (staffing, training, compensation, etc.) and ensures Parker values and company policies are well understood and maintained.
  • Work with business development and program management to identify new business opportunities, present Parker product capabilities, and clarify customers' technical requirements.
  • Identify and create technical training and development plans; mentor or serve as a resource to share specialized knowledge with others.
  • Lead the Technical Publications team in driving continuous improvement of technical publication tools and processes; develop and deliver training, maintain knowledge databases, and protect Parker intellectual property.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or a science technical discipline;
    Master's degree or MBA preferred.
  • 7‑9+ years of related experience; prior management/supervisory or project engineering responsibility of 2‑3 years preferred.
  • Thorough knowledge of the technical engineering discipline or domain, and products or systems.
  • Proficiency with project management, engineering documentation requirements, and engineering analysis tools.
  • Knowledge of program management, the product development cycle, cost accounting principles and methods (e.g., earned value management).
  • Ability to foster teamwork and inclusion with diverse groups of employees; ability to guide and develop the team through coaching, feedback, recognition and training.
  • Thorough knowledge of industry and regulatory standards, policies, and compliance requirements.
  • Effective communication and presentation skills with clarity and precision.
  • Position is subject to U.S. export compliance and/or U.S. Government contracting citizenship eligibility requirements; must be a U.S. Citizen.
