The Opportunity

We are seeking a Senior Civil Engineer with strong technical skills in hydraulic structures to lead projects for hydropower clients in the Northwest, West Coast, and Southwest regions. In this role you will manage and mentor junior staff and develop an execution team capable of delivering a diverse variety of multi‑discipline design projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead projects involving dams, spillways, intakes, outlets, and other hydropower and hydraulic structure improvements.
  • Deliver innovative and high‑quality design products, manage equipment procurement, and participate in construction processes for municipal and hydropower clients.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts across disciplines to deliver PS&E’s, technical analyses, etc.
  • Mentor and interact across disciplines with professionals in our hydropower and dams teams.
  • Communicate directly with client counterparts to develop technical solutions and strategies from concept to closeout.
  • Translate client direction into efficient work plans and coordinate with project team members to deliver high‑quality work products.
  • Create written technical documents, drawings, specifications, cost estimates, alternatives analyses, and other common engineering deliverables.
  • Apply knowledge of design guides, standards, systems, and applicable engineering codes relevant to the hydropower industry.
  • Leverage hydraulics, civil/structural design, geotechnical considerations, and mechanical systems to generate engineered solutions.
  • Prepare and oversee calculations and design documents.
  • Participate in equipment procurement and construction management processes.
  • Manage and mentor junior engineers.
  • Provide support to business development teams for pursuit activities.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with West Coast hydropower clients.
  • Master's degree in Civil Engineering or Business.
  • Familiarity with state and federal regulatory requirements for dams and hydropower clients.
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) license.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 11 years related work experience.
  • Ability to complete pre‑employment onboarding requirements, including background checks, drug screening, and motor‑vehicle record search.
  • Active engineering registration or licensure to support engineer of record (EOR) requirements for BV projects in applicable countries.
Work Environment & Physical Demands
  • Hybrid or flexible work options may be offered after the first 90 days of employment based on manager discretion.
  • Typical office and construction environments with extreme weather conditions, high noise level, safety hazards (electric currents, working on scaffolding, exposure to chemicals, fumes, odors, dust, mists, gases).
  • Tasks include sitting, walking, talking, reading, writing, keyboarding, driving, lifting up to 40 pounds, standing for extended periods.
