Job Description

We are currently seeking resumes from qualified, responsible, self‑sufficient, energetic Geotechnical Designer/EIT‑1s for our Irvine, CA office. The ideal candidate will be motivated to develop and build their personal knowledge and skills to assist with the growth and success of the office. TYPSA is seeking resumes from qualified geotechnical designers for our Irvine, California office. The candidate will be involved in the geotechnical aspects of a wide variety of civil engineering projects including transportation, rail and transit, energy, and water, in North America and beyond. This will include assistance with design of structure foundations, retaining structures, tunnels, slope stability, earthworks, and earthquake engineering.

Underground construction is an important part of our portfolio, and the candidate will contribute to exciting and challenging tunneling projects in a multidisciplinary and collaborative environment.

Job Qualifications (Education, Experience, and Skills)
  • Minimum of a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil, Geotechnical, or Geological Engineering.
  • Holds an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certificate or able to obtain it within 6 months of hire.
  • Experience with commercial geotechnical software (e.g. Rocscience or Ensoft software) is a plus.
  • Knowledge of CAD software is a plus.
  • Attention to detail, dedication to quality and accuracy.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Working knowledge of standard business software including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Working Conditions and Environment

Will need the ability to establish rapport quickly with others working on the same project, and be able to promote a positive team environment. Working knowledge of dealing with a diverse population while using tact, diplomacy, and respect.
