Operations Manager, Program / Project Manager
HDR is seeking a talented Resources Business Group Manager to lead our Southern California practice. The role supports the Resources Business Group, which provides broad engineering, planning, design, strategic communications, and environmental services to a diverse client base across Southern California.
Key Responsibilities• Lead strategic client and project pursuits.
• Manage projects and provide technical services.
• Administer staff, liaise with marketing support, review contracts, and oversee quality of deliverables.
• Supervise, mentor, and coordinate staff work across the continental United States.
• Prepare annual revenue forecasts and budgets.
• Monitor business group performance and pursue projects that align with staff expertise and developmental goals.
• Report to the Area Manager and collaborate with regional and national directors and other business lines.
- Minimum 10 years of experience, including strong leadership in consulting services (engineering, environmental, or regulatory) on complex projects.
- Bachelor's degree in a professional, architectural, engineering, or closely related field.
- Demonstrated experience leading diverse teams.
- Commitment to quality, process improvement, and HDR values.
- Active engagement in professional or industry associations to enhance HDR technical expertise and brand.
- Ability to work cooperatively with regional and local office managers, other business group managers, technical directors, and marketing managers.
- Attitude and commitment to being an active participant in our employee‑owned culture.
- Specific knowledge of the Southern California market is a plus.
- Proven success in leading client teams for development and project execution.
- Experience in organizational development, building and nurturing team structure for program growth and resilience.
- Experience leading diverse teams in an inclusive, proactive manner to deliver high‑quality, timely work for clients.

- Active participation in professional or industry associations.
- Ability to work cooperatively with regional and local office managers, other area business group managers, technical directors, and marketing managers.
HDR offers a comprehensive benefits package for full‑time regular positions, including medical, dental, vision, short and long‑term disability, life insurance, employee assistance program, paid time away, parental leave, paid holidays, a retirement savings plan with employer match, employee referral bonus, and tuition reimbursement. The expected compensation range for this position is $187,000 to $267,000, based on skills, experience, education, and geographic location.
Temporary and part‑time roles may be eligible for limited benefits.
