Responsibilities- Develop innovative electrical systems for ophthalmic platforms including laser vision correction, phaco and laser cataract surgery, ocular surface disease, and emerging surgical systems.
- Develop and deliver robust and safe electrical systems for medical devices throughout the product development lifecycle, including concept phase, research, requirements and specifications, design, coding, visualization, simulation, testing, integration and debugging, manufacturing, and post-launch support.
- Research new technologies and applications, and develop concept proofs and prototypes.
- Develop system algorithms and communication protocols.
- Develop mixed signal, power electronics, motor control, and digital circuit designs and layouts of printed circuit boards (simple to sophisticated).
- Interfaces include motors, lasers, ultrasound, fluidics, pneumatics, audio, and other transducers.
- Perform high-level circuit simulations and modeling.
- Collaborate with engineers in mechanical, firmware, software, test, system, quality, regulatory, service and other fields to build solutions and ensure requirements are met.
- Act as a technical lead for subsystem projects, and help plan project scope, budgets, and timelines, including writing requirements and test protocols.
- Document hardware design and participate in the formal release process for medical devices, ensuring quality and regulatory requirements are met.
- Perform hardware testing for IEC medical safety and EMC standards, including conducting and leading electrical compliance testing.
Requirements: Employer will accept a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related engineering field and 6 years of experience in the offered role or in an R&D Staff Electrical Engineer-related occupation.
Alternatively, employer will accept a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related engineering field and 4 years of experience in the offered role or in an R&D Staff Electrical Engineer-related occupation.
