Company Overview
At Relativity Space, we’re building rockets to serve today’s needs and tomorrow’s breakthroughs. Our Terran R vehicle will deliver customer payloads to orbit, meeting the growing demand for launch capacity. This is just the start—commercial success with Terran R will unlock new opportunities to advance science, exploration, and innovation that reach beyond the known.
About the TeamThe Avionics team is responsible for the full lifecycle of Terran R’s nervous system, designing, building, testing, installing, and operating the hardware that connects and controls every major electrical system on the vehicle and ground. Engineers work closely with propulsion, GNC, fluids, and stage engineering teams to enable rapid iteration and feedback loops.
About the RoleAs a Mixed‑Signal Hardware Engineer, you will design, test, and analyze custom electronics for the Terran R launch vehicle. You will oversee hardware development through the entire product lifecycle—from concept through flight maturity—including board bring‑up, design verification, qualification, initial flight production, integration, and vehicle operations. You will collaborate with cross‑functional partners to make the best decisions for the overall vehicle.
Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience designing electronics for harsh, mission‑critical environments (launch vehicles, spacecraft, aircraft, or robotics).
- Proficiency with eCAD software such as Altium.
- Experience with hardware bring‑up, validation, debugging, and data analysis.
- Experience with board‑level design from concept to manufacturing.
- Experience working with highly cross‑functional teams (mechanical, thermal, electrical, software).
- Familiarity with embedded software development and avionics system integration.
- Experience with design for reliability and manufacturability of avionics hardware.
- Understanding of interfacing hardware such as sensors (thermocouples, pressure transducers) and electromechanical devices (solenoids, pyrotechnics, actuators).
Hiring Range: $148,000 - $222,000 USD.
