Job Overview
As part of HDR's Building Engineering Services Group, you'll help design the critical infrastructure that supports the digital age and shapes the spaces where people work, connect, and thrive. From high‑performance data centers to dynamic commercial environments, your work will directly support technological advancement, sustainability, and human experience. You’ll collaborate with mechanical, electrical, structural, and civil engineering experts to solve complex design challenges with precision, creativity, and collaboration.
Responsibilities- Coordinate mechanical aspects of commercial or institutional projects
- Perform routine mechanical engineering assignments requiring application of standard techniques and procedures
- Write and edit mechanical specifications, and select mechanical systems and devices
- Utilize engineering software to develop HVAC loads, energy analysis and mechanical equipment selections
- Prepare construction documents for HVAC and plumbing design of buildings, including drawings, specifications and reports
- Work independently on small projects, or assist more‑senior engineers on larger projects
- Supervise work of Mechanical CAD Technicians, and coordinate design of assigned projects with architectural staff and other engineering disciplines
- Take responsibility for construction contract administration requiring field inspections and conflict resolution
- Perform other duties as needed
- Commercial/Institutional experience in healthcare a plus
- Master's degree in in Mechanical Engineering
- Healthcare and Hospital design experience
- Comprehension of OSHPD/ HCAI requirements
- Sciences, Laboratory and Cleanroom experience
- Proficiency in Trace 3D and IESVE
- 4+ years of experience with HVAC or plumbing
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Engineer in Training (EIT) certificate
- Proficiency in MS Office and AutoCAD

The expected compensation range for this position is $71,000 - $101,000 and depends upon skills, experience, education and geographical location.
Stated benefits are for full‑time regular positions. Temporary and part‑time roles are eligible for limited benefits.
