Key Responsibilities Technical Leadership
  • Serve as the subject matter expert for electromagnetic design and motor architecture
  • Lead magnetic circuit design, material selection (including permanent magnets and soft magnetic materials), and performance optimization
  • Define and implement motor design standards, simulation methodologies, and validation processes
  • Translate technical requirements into scalable, manufacturable designs
  • Partner with mechanical, thermal, controls, and power electronics teams to ensure system‑level performance
  • Develop motor models, performance data, and characterization reports to support system simulation
  • Communicate technical tradeoffs, risks, and design decisions to leadership and external stakeholders
  • Lead design reviews and customer‑facing technical discussions
Manufacturing & Production
  • Ensure designs are optimized for manufacturability and cost efficiency
  • Collaborate with suppliers and production teams on materials, processes, and component sourcing
  • Support production transition, supplier qualification, and continuous improvement efforts
Test & Validation
  • Define and oversee motor testing including dynamometer, thermal, and lifecycle validation
  • Lead root cause analysis and ensure alignment between simulation and test results
  • Support qualification efforts aligned with industry standards
  • Lead and mentor a team of engineers, driving technical growth and performance
  • Oversee design reviews, configuration management, and change control processes
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and aligned with technical requirements
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related technical field (Master’s or PhD preferred)
  • 10+ years of experience in electric motor design or electromagnetic systems
  • 4+ years of leadership or people management experience
  • Hands‑on experience with motor design tools such as ANSYS Maxwell, Motor‑CAD, JMAG, or Flux
  • Strong understanding of electromagnetic theory, magnetic materials, and motor performance optimization
  • Experience designing motors for high‑performance applications and transitioning designs to production
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes including winding, magnetization, and assembly techniques
  • Experience with motor testing, validation, and performance characterization
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in aerospace, electric vehicles, defense, or industrial motor applications
  • Knowledge of high-speed or high power density motor design
  • Experience with multi-physics simulation (thermal, electromagnetic, mechanical)
  • Familiarity with advanced motor control techniques (e.g., field-oriented control)
  • Background in regulated or highly reliable systems
What Sets This Role Apart
  • High-impact leadership role with full ownership of motor design strategy
  • Opportunity to work on advanced, high-performance engineering systems
  • Competitive compensation with flexibility for top-tier talent
  • Relocation support available for Irvine, CA or Fort Worth, TX
