Position Summary

The Extrusion Process/R&D Engineer will play a key role in developing and optimizing extrusion processes for the production of medical tubing. This position involves conducting research and development initiatives to improve product performance, enhance manufacturing efficiency, and innovate new materials and designs that meet the evolving needs of the medical device industry.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and optimize extrusion processes for the production of medical tubes, ensuring high quality and compliance with industry standards.
  • Conduct experiments and trials to evaluate new materials, formulations, and process conditions to improve product performance and manufacturing efficiency.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including production, quality assurance, and regulatory affairs, to implement process improvements and troubleshoot production issues.
  • Analyze data and provide technical documentation and reports on findings, including process specifications, performance metrics, and validation results.
  • Stay current with industry trends, technological advancements, and regulatory changes affecting extrusion processes and medical device manufacturing.
  • Participate in the development of new product designs and assist in the transition from R&D to full-scale production.
  • Provide technical training and support to production staff on extrusion processes and best practices.
  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols and contribute to maintaining a safe working environment.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Polymer Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field;
    Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in extrusion processes, preferably in the medical device or pharmaceutical industry.
  • Strong understanding of polymer science, material properties, and manufacturing processes related to extrusion.
  • Proven experience in process optimization, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis.
  • Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and make data-driven decisions.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to collaborate across teams.
  • Proficiency in Computer‑aided design software (CAD) and data analysis tools; experience with statistical process control (SPC) is a plus.
Working Conditions

Work is performed in both an office and manufacturing environment, requiring adherence to safety protocols. May involve standing for extended periods and occasional lifting of materials as needed.
